“Downtown” Heather Brown
Heather is a trial attorney who practices criminal law and victim advocacy. Heather attended Loyola Marymount University where she obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, a minor in Sociology, and became a certified alcohol and drug counselor. She went on to attend Pepperdine University School of Law, where she received her Juris Doctorate.
She worked at the LA County Probation Department and was a law clerk at LADA’s office handling high profile murder cases. Heather also clerked with the Honorable Richard Neidorf in Santa Monica and handled Motions for Summary Judgment. Heather’s trial skills were obtained while working as a trial attorney in the Orange County District’s Attorney’s Office for over 24 years.
Heather handled some very high profile cases, including death penalty cases and 100’s of violent crimes. She fought for justice for sexual assault victims while working for over 10 years in the Sexual Assault Unit, and only left that unit to practice her craft within the Homicide Unit, which she did so for approximately 5 years prior to retiring in 2022.
Since retiring, Heather has been practicing criminal defense; handling serious felonies and misdemeanors while advocating for her clients as vigorously as she did for victims of crime. While a Prosecutor, Heather had a reputation for being reasonable, fearless, and a formidable opponent. She prides herself on her relationships with law enforcement as well as Judges and the criminal defense bar. Being a former Prosecutor, Heather can read a case and know the weaknesses of the Prosecution’s case, as well as what a reasonable disposition of any case might be. Heather has decades of knowledge of the criminal justice system and what it takes to prove a case in a court of law, a deep understanding of criminal law and jurors. Heather also has a reputation for opening up a can of whoop ass in the courtroom; if your case is a case that needs to go to trial; you’ve come to the right place.
Heather also fights for justice working as Special Counsel for Fight for Survivors; a civil litigation firm that focuses on litigating cases against schools, churches, and organizations that cover up child sexual abuse. She also teaches as an adjunct professor at Cal State Fullerton on Sex Crimes and represents many people from the law enforcement community that are in need of a strong advocate in their corner. Whatever your legal needs, Heather can either help you personally, or guide you to the lawyer who can. Heather is truly an advocate who cares about her clients and takes great pride in fighting for justice and helping people in their darkest hour.
